Homemade Hair Mask

Making your own hair mask is such and easy and fun process that will give your hair a boost of beauty instantly. I was experiencing some hair fall after the birth of my third child and decided to take action with making some deep conditioning oils and masks. This homemade hair mask leave my hair silky and shiny and love making it over and over.

The reason why women experience dry or even lose their hair while breastfeeding, is because breastfeeding depletes the body of vitamins and minerals. Don’t be alarmed you new moms; postpartum hair loss is a normal and temporary. Most women will return to their usual hair growth cycle between 6 and 12 months after birth.

Tips to support healthy hair and scalp

Keep a diet rich in vitamins and minerals and use some supplements if needed. I use these baby and me vitamins.

Visit your hair dresser and get a good haircut. I usually get a hair cut right after I give birth and my head always feels lighter :).

Try different homemade moisterizing and smoothing mask recipes.

A good quality shampoo and conditioner may help. I buy mine from morroccan methods when i don’t have time to make my own or the AromaSilk line by Young Living. These are the only brand I trust to be 100% natural.

Try rubbing some essential oils on your scalp: essential oils can support healthy hair and scalp. I use one drop or two of Cedarwood and Five drops of lavender Young Living Essential oils and mixed with a tablespoon of olive oil and rub on my scalp one hour or so before washing my hair.

Avoid using a brush or comb that pulls or stresses the hair.

The recipes I am going to share with you today is very easy and affective. You can use it everyday and as much as you want. It consists just of just three ingredients That most likely you have in your kitchen.

Homemade hair mask recipe

Ingredients

1/2 Banana

2 Tablespoons Honey (buy it here)

4 Tablespoons Olive oil or, melted coconut oil, almond oil, avocado oil or jojoba oil( buy It here)

5 drops cedarwood and lavender essential oil ( buy it here)

Instructions

Put all the ingredients in a blender and blend few seconds until you make a smooth loose paste. Apply it to your wet hair and leave on for half an hour. Wear a shower cap to avoid dripping and to keep the heat that allow more penetration of the goodies you are using. Rinse thoroughly with water.

Did you know that most shampoos, hair and skincare store bought products contain synthetic materials that create many of our hair, scalp and skin problems?

Take a look at these examples

Propylene Glycol – can causes dry skin and skin irritation.

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate or Laureth Sulfate – surfactant that may corrode hair follicles

Oleyl betaine – may cause dry hair and scalp.

Mineral oils – petroleum products clog pores! this chemical is too big to be absorbed by the skin.

I use this brand whenever I don’t have time to make my own masks, conditioners and shampoos.

Note: It is absolutely possible to greatly reduce or completely eliminate the use of toxic chemicals from your beauty regimen. Reading labels and researching ingredients might seem overwhelming at first, but once you become familiar with what ingredients and chemicals to look for, it will become second nature to you. You will also find that the results of using naturally derived ingredients are well worth the effort by saving money and taking care of your health.

Please take a moment to share on your favorite social media!

Quality beauty products are hard to source and they are usually full of harsh chemicals. Face and body scrubs are a must have for every woman, because they are one of the very important beauty routine that gives the skin it’s natural radiance. Have you ever experienced skin tone different after the beach tan is gone? Well, winter is the time to pumper and take care of your skin and give it the nourishment it needs. Exfoliating both body and face with scrubs are one of the most affective ways to bring the smoothness and youthful look back to your skin.

Benefits of Exfoliation

The gentle application of an exfoliant scrub enables the flaky old skin cells to be removed from the surface of the skin. This beauty method leaves the skin feeling fresh, smooth and more supple, and also brightens the appearance. It is important to use a product and application method that is most suited to your skin type as overexfoliating may cause the skin to become irritated and dry. The scrub I am sharing with you today is made with 100% therapeutic essential oils from Young Living ( BUY THEM HERE ) and other 100% organic ingredients.

Removal of dead skin cells helps with skin discoloration

Exfoliating keeps the skin soft and glowing

Kills bacteria and prevents breakouts

Improves product penetration and treatment results

Helps with the detoxification of the skin

The removal of dead skin cells speeds up the skin renewal process, allowing smoother, healthier skin cells to take their place

Essential oils Face and Body scrub recipe

Ingredients

3 tablespoons coconut Sugar (buy it here)

1/2 tablespoon Himalayan pin salt (buy it here)

4 tablespoons coconut oil non melted (buy it here)

1 tablespoon almond oil (buy it here)

1 tablespoon Magnesium oil (buy it here)

few smashed calendula flowers (buy it here)

10 drops LEMON, FRANKINCENSE, LAVENDER, ROSEMARY, GRAPEFRUIT ESSENTIAL OILS (buy it here)

Directions

Mix all the dry ingredients together, add all the oils. The mix shouldn’t be dry or too loose. If you experience any of that please add some sugar or almond oil. Some brands of salts and sugars absorb liquids differently.

You can either apply the scrub and massage your skin to exfoliate with your fingers or use gloves, or mitts. Those helps remove dead skin cells from rough parts of the epidermis as you wash. Applying circular movements, working from the feet towards the heart, will also help improve circulation of blood in the body (Buy mitts here).

While the secret for a beautiful skin happens mostly internally with a healthy balanced diet, It ‘s also really important to choose beneficial external skin care products. Toners were originally devised as an extra cleansing step to remove dirt and impurities from makeup and environmental pollution. I am really picky when it comes to choosing what’s best for my skin, so most of the time I prefer making my own with 100% natural ingredients. This amazing and easy homemade toner will leave your skin feel softer and balanced. It’s great for sensitive skin due to the soothing properties of rose water and cucumber. I use it every morning after my homemade face wash ( FIND THE RECIPE HERE ) and have seen great result in my skin tone and elasticity.

I choose the most purest ingredients and use high grade essential oils in all my beauty recipes. The ancient civilizations used lots of oils in their beauty routine especially the Egyptian. Who doesn’t know about Cleopatra’s beauty routine ?! It’s pretty common in my culture to involve her secrets when making beauty products. My mom use to make a lavender soap that she says was inspired by cleopatra’s beauty ritual. Get pure essential oils here.

Homemade face toner recipe

I used two great essential oils in this recipe

Geranium Essential Oil has a sweet, floral fragrance that calms and relaxes the body and mind. It has been used back to the times of the Egyptians for promoting and supporting beautiful healthy skin.

German Chamomile supports healthy skin and has a calming aroma that helps create feelings of peace and patience. This oil can be applied neat or as part of massage to desired areas.

Ingredients

100 ml rosewater ( order it here )

one Cucumber

4 drop chamomile ( order it here )

2 drop geranium oil ( order it here )

Directions

Place the cucumber in a juicer.

Add the cucumber juice to the rose water.

Add essential oils.

Mix all the ingredients together and place in a spray bottle. Use as needed or after each face wash.

Store in the fridge to preserve freshness.

Please feel free to share any of your homemade toner recipes in your comments. I would love to learn from your experiences too.

Be sure to pin it

I started making homemade baby products, because I figured they are generally less expensive than store-bought, non toxic, environmental safe, Plus, if you start making several different kinds of baby care products, you’ll find that you’re using a lot of the same ingredients in different ways, so you can buy the ingredients in larger quantities to save even more money.

I love infant massage, I find it as a very special time for bonding with my infants. All of my three boys loved massage time. I try to do it two to three times a week.

Did you know that baby massage can:

• Promotes relaxation and helps babies self-regulate calm, which reduces crying
• Helps to normalize muscle tone
• Improves circulation
• Enhances immune system function
• Improves midline orientation
• Helps to improve sensory and body awareness
• Enhances neurological development
• Helps baby/child to sleep deeper and more soundly
• Provides all of the essential indicators of intimate parent-infant bonding and attachment: eye-to-eye, touch, voice, smell, movement, and thermal regulation.
• Improves general well-being
• Provides an intimate time for children to confide in parents
• Improves overall functioning of the gastrointestinal tract

Give your baby the touch of love by making this 100% natural massage oil. It’s never too late. My seven year old still asks me for a little massage at least ones a week.

Homemade baby massage oil recipe

Ingredients

1/2 cup organic olive oil ( You can get it here )

1/2 cup organic apricot kernel oil ( get it here )

1/4 cup calendula flowers ( get it here )

1/4 cup chamomile flowers ( get it here )

2 drops of carrot seed essential oil ( get it here )

2 drops of lavender essential oil ( get it here )

Instruction

Mix all the oils together. Put the calendula and chamomile in a glass jar and pour the oils over it. Put a tight-fitting lid on. Keep in a cool, dark place and shake daily for 6-8 weeks. The color of the oil will turn to dark yellow or orangish. Get rid of the flower by passing the oil through a cheesecloth. Keep in a glass jar and use as needed. In my experience this oil gets more concentrated and more beneficial the more it lasts. This oil acts as a southing and relaxing due to the effects of the chamomile and calendula.

Homemade Essential Oils Deodorant

One of the hardest things for me to give up whenI started turning into DIY personnel care was deodorant. The one I am sharing with you today is the essential oils based deodorant which I called ” Rose Blossom deodorant”. Even though this recipes contains more than one essential oil. I love flushing out the rose scent as it’s one of my favorite essential oils for making DIY beauty and personal care recipes.

This essential oil deodorant is the only personnel care that I apply automatically after my morning shower.I don’t recall myself forgetting to do it.

Reports have suggested that the deodorant we see at the grocery store shelves contains harmful substances, which can be absorbed through the skin or enter the body through nicks caused by shaving. Some scientists have also proposed that certain ingredients in underarm antiperspirants or deodorants may be related to breast cancer, because they are applied frequently to an area next to the breast.”

Healthy Farm, Healthy Plate, Healthy You has a great, simple breakdown of why you want to avoid conventionally made deodorants and antiperspirants.

Some toxic chemicals to look out for are:

Aluminum Compounds
Parabens
Propylene glycol
Triclosan
Steareths

Read more about scary deodorants here.

Here is a little description about the ingredients I use to make this recipe

Baking Soda is a universal odor neutralizer. Most deodorant mask unpleasant odors instead of neutralizing them. Fighting off odor is always better than just covering it up. Make sure you use baking soda and not baking power. Baking powder has chemicals that can react poorly to the skin. Get it here.

Arrowroot Powder is a go-to for deodorant recipes, for good reason. Actually, I always have some on hand for both food and skincare recipes. Arrowroot not only helps to serve as a thickener in this deodorant, but it also has the power to help draw out toxin. Get it here.

Rose essential oil is used in creams, lotions and soaps for its amazing fragrance and its moisterizing properties. Rose water, recovered from the distillation of rose oil, is mildly astringent and beneficial for cleansing and refreshing dry, sensitive skin.

Purification essential oil is a blend of Lemongrass, Citronella, Rosemary, Lavandin, Myrtle, and Melaleuca.Purification can be used directly on the skin to cleanse and soothe.

Frankincense Essential Oil is known for it’s soothing and moisturizing properties.

Lavender essential oil is the most versatile of all essential oils. It acts gently on the skin and give it a natural glow and refresh when used as a moisturizer with a carrier oil.

Cedarwood essential oil Has a long history as an incense and perfume. The wood was burned by the Greeks and Romans to fragrant the air.

Coconut oil has gained huge popularity in the past few years due to its numerous health benefits. What makes coconut oil great in this recipe is one of it’s natural acids. Lauric acid helps kill off bacteria, viruses and fungi. Bacteria loves warm places like armpits. Lauric acid aids in maintaining freshness and fighting odors. Get it here

How to make Homemade Essential Oils Deodorant?

INGREDIENTS

3 tablespoons coconut oil

2 tablespoons baking soda

2 tablespoons arrowroot powder (can add more for a thicker deodorant)

4 drops of rose essential oil. Get it here

2 drops of lavender essential oil. Get it here

2 drops of frankincense essential oil. Get it here

2 drops of Purification essential oils. Get it here

1 drop of cedar wood essential oil. Get it here

Note: I keep my deodorant in the fridge to preserve it and keep the thickness.

I recommend only young living essential oils and you get them here.

INSTRUCTIONS

Simply mix to combine all the ingredients in a small bowl.
I like storing mine in a small glass jar with a lid. Or you can get these empty deodorants containers here.
If you enjoy a creamier deodorant similar to a moisturizer, use more coconut oil.
If you enjoy a harder deodorant similar to a stick, use more arrowroot powder.
Apply to underarms as needed, rubbing in.

You can use a popsicle stick to get the deodorant out of the container or your fingers. There are no rules, just make sure you use enough under your arms to keep you “sure” all day long. You don’ t need a lot though. Make sure you speed it all around to avoid oil stains on your clothes.

Before I started making my beauty DIY I started with personal care products first. After successful trials like this amazing recipe I felt the need to make everything myself. It’s becoming a family hobby and the kids enjoy it. Have you ever considered making your own homemade soap?

The deal with DIY recipes is once you purchase the ingredients, you can use them for several months, so while you are thinking they are maybe pricey, think twice. DIY product last several months and actually save you money.

Whenever I think about bath salts I think of a good relaxing solo time. I love my weekly bath time and this homemade bath salt makes it more enjoyable. To keep it fresh and benefit from the amazing ingredients, I like to make a jar that lasts four weeks assuming that I use it only in my bath ones a week ( about four cups epsom or himalayan salt ). Every time I use it, I come out of my beth smelling and feeling amazing. I always make it as a gift for my friends and my kids teachers.

The main ingredients in this salt bath are

Himalayan Pink Salt: Soaking in a salt bath is an easy way to increase the body’s levels of both magnesium and sulfate which results in relaxing and calming the body. The magnesium helps to produce serotonin, a mood-elevating chemical within the brain that create a feeling of calm and relaxation.

Lavender Essential oil: The Ancient Greeks and Romans used lavender to perfume their baths. In addition to their amazing blossom, it has. so many benefits for the body and skin. The Egyptian queen Cleopatra sprinkled lavender into the floors of banquet halls and was well known for her bathing and beauty rituels which includes lavender in the bath and in facial masks.

German Chamomile Essential Oil: Chamomile is known as the queen of relaxation. When using in a bath it can ease skin irritations, soften your skin, and help you sleep soundly and peacefully through the night.

Purification Essential Oil: Purification does what sounds like. I like to add it in almost all my personal care DIY products

Almond oil: I bet you don’t usually see any oils in a bath salt. I used almond oil to help mix all the ingredients and infuse with each other. It also gives me a feel of softness.

Homemade bath salt recipes

Ingredients:

Four cup himalayan pink salt ( buy it here )

Ten drops lavender, german camomile and purification essential oil ( get high grade essential oils here )

Directions:

In a bowl mix all the ingredients together

Use right away or store in a place jar with a lead

This homemade face wash recipe will leave your skin refreshed and smooth. I tried rose water as a face toner and loved ( find the recipe here ) and said to myself why not making a face wash with it too. I am amazed of how amazing and super easy to make this recipe is. I use to spend between $25 to $35 every two months to buy a good quality face wash. The ingredients I am sharing below can make up to 15 4 ounces bottles. Now that’s a pretty big saving .

Note: Did you know that more than 1000 years ago, Ancient Egyptians used frankincense in their skin care routine to make masks, lotions, soaps …etc ? This ancient and holy essential oil is originally from the Middle East and North Africa, particularly Somalia and is extracted from frankincense resin. Young Living has a farm in Oman Jordan and that’s where the frankincense I use come from. There is only 2% real Frankincense entering the US and lots of the one sold in store shelves is fake. Get The real one here.
